The Kinderhook Reformed Church Cemetery is sponsoring a BROOKS BAR-B-CUE again this year from 3:00 - 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 27, on the front and side lawns of the church. PRICES ARE $12 FOR THE FULL DINNER AND $8 FOR CHICKEN ONLY. Full dinner includes a baked potato, coleslaw, and roll. A variety of beverages will be available to those who are eating in the fellowship room, and for carry-outs, bottled water will be available. For a donation, homemade desserts will be offered to enhance the meal. If you are able to donate baked for the dessert menu, please indicate your contribution on the sign-up sheet at the back table.
All proceeds will go toward operation and maintenance of the cemetery grounds, which has, over the years, become an increasingly costly community ministry. Starting next Sunday, September 17, reservations can be left on the church phone, 518-758-6401, or at 518-758-9492. PAYMENT BY CHECK OR BY CASH FOR PHONE RESERVATIONS, WILL BE COLLECTED WHEN YOU ARRIVE AT THE BAR-B-CUE. Have you ever wondered what to say to someone who is sick, struggling with relationship difficulties or in grief? The Art of Caring Visits is an introduction to the pastoral and practical dimensions of visiting hurting people. This class is aimed at helping us respond following the way our God has responded to people throughout the scriptures, by following the principles of IDENTIFICATION, EMPATHY AND LOVING ACCEPTANCE. This course includes theory and practice of active listening, psychology of illness, and biblical principles to help motivate caring visits.

Those of you whose work requires interacting day in and day out with people who exhibit a variety of attitudes, needs, and joys, can attest to the fact that, whether on the job or off, one’s mind is never completely free of the responsibilities, concerns, and inevitable stress, and time away becomes a necessity, not a luxury.
The minimum allowances to be made available to RCA pastors for vacation and professional development are shown below – currently 5 weeks vacation time* and 2 weeks professional development leave for Pastor Rudy. These mandates are not of our own choosing or subject to change; they must be followed for all pastors, and have been established to protect them and insure that they are provided with healthy, productive arrangements with their individual churches:
