  Welcome, Announcements

Boldly Approaching our God

Call to Worship (Responsive)  Based on Psalm 29.

Ascribe to the Lord, O heavenly beings; ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
Ascribe to the Lord the glory of his name. Let us worship the Lord in holy

       splendor.
The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders.
The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.
To the redeeming and ever-present love of God, let us lift our voices in praise!

The voice of the Lord causes all in his temple to say "Glory!" Come, let us

worship the Lord and lift our voices in praise!

*Opening Hymn #26                                               Praise, My Soul, the King of Heaven

  Invocation

  Call to Confession

From age to age is God's faithfulness. From day to day is our striving. Let us be honest about our lives before God.

  Prayer of Confession

Holy God, loving Friend, we make no pretense about our lives. We forget, even deny that we were created with wonder and delight in our souls. We go through life anxious and serious, seeking to get ahead, striving to make ends meet. We rush and hurry, fill up our calendars.  We are busy and yet not satisfied. We are moving faster, but we never catch up. Give us rest oh Lord!

[Moment of Quiet Rest in God]

Almighty God, hear the confession of our sin!

[Moment of Quiet Confession]

   Assurance of Pardon (Responsive)

Scripture promises us that Christ intercedes on behalf of all who approach him. Because we have an intercessor who has been made perfect, we may trust his promises of forgiveness.

The old has passed away; a new life has begun.

Brothers and sisters, in Jesus Christ we are forgiven.

       Thanks be to God.

We Come before God’s Open Word

  Prayer of Blessings

  Scripture                                                                                      Genesis 29:15-28 (p. 21)

  Message                                                                                    “Double-crossed by Life”

  Prayer of Thanks

Celebrating God

  Offering and Offertory

*Doxology and Offertory Prayer (Unison)

Accept these gifts we humbly offer, gracious God. Use them, and use us, to reach into places where your mystery remains hidden, where your goodness is not yet known. Make us good stewards of your word. Make us responsible heirs of your promises, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Prayer Requests, Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s Prayer

*Hymn of Thanks #710                                              We Are Called to Be God’s People

*Blessing, Benediction, and Response Hymn    My Friends May You Grow in Grace

My friends, may you grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior.

My friends, may you grow in grace, and in the knowledge of Jesus Christ.

To God be the glory, now and forever, now and forever, amen. (2x)

  Postlude

Dear members of the Kinderhook Reformed Church from Will Carroll,

I am working with the KRC Cemetery Committee for my Eagle Project.  My project consists of designing and constructing the new Columbarium within the cemetery.  I will be installing the fence, which will define the perimeter of the Columbarium.  If you feel a calling to my project and would like to contribute to the Cemetery Fund , I would  greatly appreciate it.  Donations may be made to the KRC Cemetery Fund with "fence" in the memo.

Thanking you in the name of Jesus Christ, Will

EMMANUEL REFORMED HOSTING GIFFY’S CHICKEN BARBECUE

This coming Thursday, July 31, 4:30 – 6:30 p.m., Emmanuel Reformed Church, 150 Maple Hill Road, Castleton, will host a Giffy’s Chicken Barbecue to benefit their Happy Kids Day Care Center.  The dinner ($11) includes 1/2 chicken, baked potato, coleslaw, dinner roll, cookie, and beverage.  Please call 732-4569 to pre-order take-out meals, or bring a blanket and enjoy a picnic on the lawn.

~SEND THE KIDS BACK TO SCHOOL PREPARED~

As you know, many disadvantaged families struggle to provide some essentials for their children, like new school supplies. Stewart's Shops has again generously donated $1,000 to purchase backpacks for Capital City Rescue Mission’s 6th Annual Backpack Giveaway Party in August. But we need your help to fill them! KRC’s Youth Group is collecting school supplies for the rescue mission again this year, and we are asking church family and friends to join us in this effort. Labeled collection containers will be available at the church’s entryways, and OUR DONATIONS NEED TO BE IN THE CONTAINERS NO LATER THAN NEXT SUNDAY, AUGUST 3RD.  What better way to help school kids than by making sure they are well-equipped as they begin the new school year? Below are some needs to get you started, and gender-neutral supplies are appreciated.  Thanks for your help!

  • 2-pocket folders
  • 3-ring binders
  • Loose-leaf paper (wide-ruled)

SUMMER LUNCH PROGRAM

This year, the Presbyterian Church has started an outreach ministry to the children who were eligible to receive the free breakfast and lunch during the school year.  KRC was asked to assist with this ministry, and has committed to help on Fridays, August 8, 15, and 29.  At least 4 other churches are assisting on other days.

So far we have several people to help set up, cook, and serve for the first week, and we will be serving chili, corn bread or muffins, fresh fruit and milk.  Additional menus will be decided on a weekly basis.  Contributions of fresh fruit/veggies, juice, milk, and cookies are welcome.  There is a sign up sheet on the back table if you feel called to help with this short - term Ministry.

                                                                                                          Thank you,

We are very excited and busy making preparations for the SonTreasure Island theme! Set your sails for Shipwreck Bay!
Visitors to SonTreasure Island are welcomed by the scent of exotic flowers, the taste of tropical fruits and the captivating

more lasting than diamonds, it is the greatest treasure of all - God’s love! At SonTreasure Island, treasure seekers will play i
sland games, create colorful crafts, and enjoy tropical snacks. But more importantly, they will discover the rich treasure of
God’s love through the life of Jesus.
