  Welcome, Announcements and God's Greeting

Drawing Near to God

Call to Worship (Responsive) Based on Psalm 119:99-112

You call us, O God, into your presence to hear again the sweetness of your words,

sweeter than honey to our mouths.

You call us to come and gain understanding from your precepts,

so that we may obey them and keep our feet from every evil way.

You call us to renew our promise to follow your righteous law,

which is a lamp for our feet and a light on our path.

You call us to set our hearts on keeping your decrees to the very end,

to make your statutes our heritage forever.

Preserve this day our lives, O Lord, according to your word,

and accept the willing praises of our lips!

*Hymn of Praise #20                                                                 Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee

Allowing God to Shape Us

  Prayer of Confession (Unison)

Father God, you are the one who leads us from darkness into light, from captivity into freedom, from anxiety into peace, from despair into joy. Yet we long to break free, choosing independence, convinced of our own wisdom, forgetting your love and grace. Forgive us, draw close to us, embrace us once again in your loving arms, and enable us to follow you in worship and grateful service each day of our lives. Amen.

[Moment of Silent Confession]

  Assurance of Pardon  (Responsive)

Beloved of God, you are forgiven and loved.  In repentance, everything old has passed away, and your darkness has changed to light. You are renewed and restored - a new creation in Christ - and God is well-pleased.

All praise and thanks to our God of grace!

Coming before God’s Open Word

Children’s Message and Prayer of Blessing  (Unison)

Merciful God, preserve these children from falling into sin’s darkness and its spiritually and physically destructive evils.  Empower us, through your Holy Spirit, to raise them up to walk in your light, and to lead righteous and virtuous lives of faithful, humble service to you and to others. Amen.

  Prayer for Illumination

  Scripture Reading                                                                             1 John 1:5(b)-10 (p. 862)

Message                                                                                         “Hope for a Sinful World”

  Prayer of Thanksgiving

Celebrating God and Community

  Offering/Offertory                       Morning prayer, op. 10/1                    Sigfrid Karg-Elert

*Doxology Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow

Praise God from whom all blessings flow. Praise him all creatures here below.

Praise him above ye heavenly host. Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

  Offertory Prayer  (Unison)

Heavenly Father, thank you for the light of your Word, which drives out darkness so we can walk confidently and securely in this life. Help us not only to live by your light, but to share it with those who are in darkness.  For this purpose, we gladly present our gifts and offerings to you. Amen.

Prayer Requests, Pastoral Prayer, and The Lord’s Prayer

*Prayer Hymn #547                                                                   O for a Closer Walk with God

*Benediction, Blessing, and Response Hymn           My Friends May You Grow in Grace

My friends, may you grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior.

My friends, may you grow in grace, and in the knowledge of Jesus Christ.

To God be the glory, now and forever, now and forever, amen. (2x)

Postlude         Fuga: Allegro moderato from Organ Sonata No. 2, op. 65/2         Felix Mendelssohn

NOTE OF THANKS FROM DAVE AND CHAR ALEXANDER

RCA MISSIONARIES TO TAIWAN

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

Thank you for your faithfulness at supporting us for these many years in our mission work in Taiwan.  It was wonderful to be with you last May, and we look forward to a future visit after our retirement in late 2018.

                                                                          Peace,

                                                                          Dave and Char Alexander

KRC volunteers will be serving at Capital City Rescue Mission in Albany on Saturday, March 11, and again on Saturday, April 22.  If you are interested in being part of this ministry, please contact Patti Varga.

MANY THANKS AND BLESSINGS TO THE KRC FAMILY FOR

THEIR ONGOING GENEROSITY IN SUPPORT OF THE VALATIE FOOD PANTRY.

Non-perishable foods always popular at the Pantry are evaporated milk; coffee; sugar; boxed cereals; pancake mix; syrup; jelly; canned meats, fruits, and vegetables; spaghetti/spaghetti sauce; mac & cheese; dinner helpers; apple sauce; juice; cake and brownie mixes. Donations may be placed in the collection containers available in the entryways of the church.

~PROPERTY MINISTRY WINDOW PROJECT UPDATE~

In order to protect and preserve the remaining portions of the back porch of the parsonage, and also to further insulate the kitchen area, the Property Ministry recommended and the consistory approved a plan to close the porch in with sliding windows plus screens, making it much more serviceable. The cost is just under $3,000, and the church has contracted with Window World to do the work

The Property Ministry plans to hold some fund raising events in the spring of this year to help pay for this project. As always, any donations that a person may choose to make toward this work will be gratefully accepted to help reach our goal. If donations should exceed the amount required, they will be held for support of future projects which continually need to be addressed.
