We are commanded to love the Lord our God, walk in his ways, and observe his commandments. Although we continually fail, God never ceases to long for us to turn away from our sin and toward him. Knowing the richness of God’s mercy, let us confess our sins before God and one another.

~FOOD PANTRY DRIVE~
The Missions Ministry would like to remind the church family of the Food Pantry Drive continuing through Sunday, August 22nd. With school being out and children home for the summer, this is a time of increased demand for food items at the Pantry. Foods that are always popular and needed are, evaporated milk, coffee, sugar, boxed cereals, pancake mix and syrup, canned fruits and vegetables, spaghetti sauce, pasta, macaroni and cheese, apple sauce and apple juice, cake and brownie mixes. Donations may be placed in the collection containers available in the front and side entryways of the church.
MMini-Market and Chicken Barbecue This SaturdayM
The Reformed Church of Schodack at Muitzeskill will hold its Annual Mini-Market and Chicken Barbecue Saturday, August 14. The church is located at Muitzeskill Road and Schodack Landing Road in the Town of Schodack. Mini-Market opens at 9:00 a.m., and barbecue will be served from 4 - 6 p.m. Barbecue donation is $10 for adults, $5 for children under 12. Reservations are not required, but the serving is done on a first-come, first-served basis. Take out is available.
Vacation Bible School will be held August 23rd - 27th. We will be combining with the Muitzeskill Reformed Church again this year, and VBS will be held here at KRC. If you are interested in serving during VBS week, please see Patti Varga or sign up on the sheet at the back table. Leaders, helpers, and kitchen & playground staff are all needed. If your children would like to attend this year’s VBS, please fill out registrations on the back table ASAP.
AANNUAL KRC PICNICC
Come and enjoy the good food and fellowship at KRC’s Church Family Picnic starting at noon Sunday, August 29, at the home of Dawn and Ted Tuttle, 332 Merwin Lake Road. (Detailed directions to come later.) Food items are needed. Please indicate your contribution on the sheet at the back table.
KRC GUIDED TOURS
The church will be opened for guided tours from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday mornings through October 9. There are still one or two Saturdays of the tour season in need of volunteer tour guides, and if you are able to meet this need, help-sheets are available for noting points of interest within the sanctuary, recording the number of visitors, and opening and closing the church building. To assist in this outreach ministry, please contact Jane Deane, 758-7051.
A hearty “thank-you” to those who have already contributed to help defray the $25,000 expense of completing the much-needed new roof on the Christian Education Wing of our building. As a token of your generosity, please help yourself to a shingle from the “Shingle Tree” on display on the back table of the Sanctuary. KRC’s Property Ministry is still seeking support for this project, and contributions may be dropped in the offering plate clearly designated for this purpose.

~ A STANDING INVITATION FROM COMMUNITY PRAYER GROUP~~
KRC’s Community Prayer Group invites you to join us at 9 a.m. Tuesday mornings in the conference room kitty-corner from the church office. If you prefer not to pray aloud, we are delighted to have you join in prayer with us silently. We have a scripture, and pray for the pastor, consistory, our ministries, Sunday School, our youth, and illness and troubles in our families, church, and the world. We use unspoken requests to unload the cries of our hearts on the One who can do all things and do them well.
Search Committee Members Needed
The General Synod Council (GSC) is looking for individuals to serve on a search committee to identify the next general secretary for the RCA. If you would like to be considered for the search committee, please fill out a profile form and send it in by Sunday, August 15.
According to its bylaws, GSC will appoint a search committee to identify the next general secretary. The search committee will include 10 to 12 people who are broadly representative of the RCA and are members of a local church. The committee may include the GSC moderator, Michelle Chahine, and two other GSC members. The current general secretary, Wes Granberg-Michaelson, will not serve on the committee.
The GSC will meet on September 8 to appoint the search committee, considering all profile forms it has received. The search committee will develop and implement a strategy for its work, with the goal of presenting a candidate to GSC for approval in March 2011. The candidate will also need to be approved by General Synod in June 2011.
