Oh God, according to your righteous judgment we deserve punishment both in this world and forever after! There is no way that we can escape this punishment and return to your favor, because your justice requires that it be satisfied. ~FOOD PANTRY DRIVE~
The Missions Ministry would like to remind the church family of the Food Pantry Drive continuing through next Sunday, August 22nd. With school being out and children home for the summer, this is a time of increased demand for food items at the Pantry. Foods that are always popular and needed are, evaporated milk, coffee, sugar, boxed cereals, pancake mix and syrup, canned fruits and vegetables, spaghetti sauce, pasta, macaroni and cheese, apple sauce and apple juice, cake and brownie mixes. Donations may be placed in the collection containers available in the front and side entryways of the church.
Praise God for the Valatie Ecumenical Food Pantry’s ongoing service to our community, and for both Dolly Petith and Maureen Mooney, who represent KRC so faithfully in this ministry. During the month of June, the Pantry served 84 families, including 177 adults and 109 children.

Vacation Bible School will be held August 23rd - 27th. We will be combining with the Muitzeskill Reformed Church again this year, and VBS will be held here at KRC. If you are interested in serving during VBS week, please see Patti Varga or sign up on the sheet at the back table. Leaders, helpers, and kitchen & playground staff are all needed. If your children would like to attend this year’s VBS, please fill out registrations on the back table ASAP.

AANNUAL KRC PICNICC
Come and enjoy the good food and fellowship at KRC’s Church Family Picnic starting at noon Sunday, August 29, at the home of Dawn and Ted Tuttle, 332 Merwin Lake Road. (Detailed directions to come later.) Food items are needed. Please indicate your contribution on the sheet at the back table.

KRC GUIDED TOURS
The church will be opened for guided tours from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday mornings through October 9. There are still one or two Saturdays of the tour season in need of volunteer tour guides, and if you are able to meet this need, help-sheets are available for noting points of interest within the sanctuary, recording the number of visitors, and opening and closing the church building. To assist in this outreach ministry, please contact Jane Deane, 758-7051.

• The good news that Brad Warren is out of the hospital and recovering at home
• Bob Rafferty’s sufficient recovery from pneumonia to be able to return to work
• The good report that Kara Ennis Mobley’s recent operation was a success, and that her doctors have said that no further treatment is necessary other than this surgery
• Ann VanBuren’s return home from hospitalization for a number of health issues – Ann is up and about, and says she is feeling better than she has in some time.
• The safe return of Pastor Rudy and his family from their recent vacation
• The happy news that William Carroll is safely home following many enjoyable and exciting experiences during his recent trip to Australia
• The beautiful job being done by the groundskeepers at the cemetery under the direction of Cemetery Supervisor, Greg Clause

• Holly, daughter of Paul and Joan Clause, undergoing tests tomorrow
• Russell, young nephew of Ruth Edge, recovering from the most recent of several brain surgeries, this one performed to treat an infection

RCA Search Committee Members Needed--Important Update!

The deadline to submit a profile form has been extended until Thursday, August 19. The GSC has recognized the need to allow additional time for the application process, in a continued effort to encourage and include broad representation of the church.

The General Synod Council (GSC) is looking for individuals to serve on a search committee to identify the next general secretary for the RCA. If you would like to be considered for the search committee, please fill out the profile form linked to below and send it in by Thursday, August 19.

According to its bylaws, GSC will appoint a search committee to identify the next general secretary. The search committee will include 10 to 12 people who are broadly representative of the RCA and are members of a local church. The committee may include the GSC moderator, Michelle Chahine, and two other GSC members. The current genera l secretary, Wes Granberg-Michaelson, will not serve on the committee. The GSC will meet on September 8 to appoint the search committee, considering all profile forms it has received. The search committee will develop and implement a strategy for its work, with the goal of presenting a candidate to GSC for approval in March 2011. The candidate will also need to be approved by General Synod in June 2011.
