PRELUDE
WELCOME, SILENT PRAYER, & PREPARATION FOR WORSHIP
VOTUM and GOD’S GREETING
God’s Children’s Approach
CALL TO WORSHIP (Responsive) Based on 1 Samuel 2
There is no Holy One like the Lord,
no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God.
You clothe those who stumble with strength.
The Lord raises up the poor from the dust;
he lifts the needy from the ashes,
For the pillars of the earth are the Lord’s.
He establishes for His children a seat with princes
and gives them a seat of honor.
There is no Holy One like the Lord,
no one besides you, for you are my Rock and my Salvation.
*HYMN OF PRAYER AND PRAISE #60 Great Is Thy Faithfulness
CALL TO CONFESSION Heidelberg Catechism, Question & Answer 5, 7 and 8
Q #5: Can you live up to all [that God’s Law requires] perfectly?
A: No! I have a natural tendency to hate God and my neighbor.
Q #7: Then where does this corrupt human nature come from?
A: From the fall and disobedience of our first parents, Adam and Eve,
in Paradise. This fall has so poisoned our nature that we are born
sinners — corrupt from conception on.
Q #8: But are we so corrupt that we are totally unable to do any good and
inclined toward all evil?
A: Yes, unless we are born again, by the Spirit of God.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION (Unison)
Based on Heidelberg Catechism, Question and Answer 12 and 15
Oh God, according to your righteous judgment we deserve punishment both in this world and forever after! There is no way that we can escape this punishment and return to your favor, because your justice requires that it be satisfied. By your grace, in Jesus Christ we have found our true Mediator and Deliverer, the One who is truly human and truly righteous, the One that is more powerful than all creatures, the One who is true God. Before you we come this morning confessing our sin of word and dead, of thought and neglect.
[Silent Prayer of Confession]
Wash us, our God, in the blood of your Son:
Jesus Christ, our true Mediator and Deliverer! Amen!
ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Beloved of God, the Lord’s mercy is from everlasting to everlasting. In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven.
Let us rejoice and be glad in Him! Amen.
*PRAISE SONGS

*PRAYER OF BLESSING UPON OUR CHILDREN (Unison)
Jesus, may our children always recognize you as the Son of the Most High God, and may they experience the sweet aroma of knowing you. May they be your light in this world, and attract many to your truth and to the good news of your salvation. (2 Corinthians 2; Matthew 5)

~FOOD PANTRY DRIVE~
The Missions Ministry would like to remind the church family of the Food Pantry Drive continuing through next Sunday, August 22nd. With school being out and children home for the summer, this is a time of increased demand for food items at the Pantry. Foods that are always popular and needed are, evaporated milk, coffee, sugar, boxed cereals, pancake mix and syrup, canned fruits and vegetables, spaghetti sauce, pasta, macaroni and cheese, apple sauce and apple juice, cake and brownie mixes. Donations may be placed in the collection containers available in the front and side entryways of the church.
Praise God for the Valatie Ecumenical Food Pantry’s ongoing service to our community, and for both Dolly Petith and Maureen Mooney, who represent KRC so faithfully in this ministry. During the month of June, the Pantry served 84 families, including 177 adults and 109 children.

Vacation Bible School will be held August 23rd - 27th. We will be combining with the Muitzeskill Reformed Church again this year, and VBS will be held here at KRC. If you are interested in serving during VBS week, please see Patti Varga or sign up on the sheet at the back table. Leaders, helpers, and kitchen & playground staff are all needed. If your children would like to attend this year’s VBS, please fill out registrations on the back table ASAP.

AANNUAL KRC PICNICC
Come and enjoy the good food and fellowship at KRC’s Church Family Picnic starting at noon Sunday, August 29, at the home of Dawn and Ted Tuttle, 332 Merwin Lake Road. (Detailed directions to come later.) Food items are needed. Please indicate your contribution on the sheet at the back table.

KRC GUIDED TOURS
The church will be opened for guided tours from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday mornings through October 9. There are still one or two Saturdays of the tour season in need of volunteer tour guides, and if you are able to meet this need, help-sheets are available for noting points of interest within the sanctuary, recording the number of visitors, and opening and closing the church building. To assist in this outreach ministry, please contact Jane Deane, 758-7051.

RCA Search Committee Members Needed--Important Update!

The deadline to submit a profile form has been extended until Thursday, August 19. The GSC has recognized the need to allow additional time for the application process, in a continued effort to encourage and include broad representation of the church.

The General Synod Council (GSC) is looking for individuals to serve on a search committee to identify the next general secretary for the RCA. If you would like to be considered for the search committee, please fill out the profile form linked to below and send it in by Thursday, August 19.

According to its bylaws, GSC will appoint a search committee to identify the next general secretary. The search committee will include 10 to 12 people who are broadly representative of the RCA and are members of a local church. The committee may include the GSC moderator, Michelle Chahine, and two other GSC members. The current genera l secretary, Wes Granberg-Michaelson, will not serve on the committee. The GSC will meet on September 8 to appoint the search committee, considering all profile forms it has received. The search committee will develop and implement a strategy for its work, with the goal of presenting a candidate to GSC for approval in March 2011. The candidate will also need to be approved by General Synod in June 2011.

Fill out the profile form. (Also available as a regular PDF form and RTF.) Please see the Search Committee webpage for tips on filling out and saving the forms. If you encounter any problems please send an email to webservant@rca.org for assistance.

A SINCERE THANK-YOU TO THOSE WHO HAVE ALREADY OFFERED THEIR INDIVIDUAL SHARE OF THIS SUPPORT. If you have not yet supported this effort, and are able to do so over and above your regular giving, you may place your share ($75 per active member) in the offering plate, clearly designated for this purpose, or you may give it in as many increments as you wish over the remaining weeks or months of this year.

A hearty “thank-you” to those who have already contributed to help defray the $25,000 expense of completing the much-needed new roof on the Christian Education Wing of our building. As a token of your generosity, please help yourself to a shingle from the “Shingle Tree” on display on the back table of the Sanctuary. KRC’s Property Ministry is still seeking support for this project, and contributions may be dropped in the offering plate clearly designated for this purpose.
