CLASSIS ASSESSMENT 2018

Each member’s share of this year’s classis assessment has been set at $94.68 (Up $6.18 from last year). All who are able to do so are encouraged to offer, over and above regular giving, their share of this support. The full share does not have to be given at one time, but may be given in as many increments as are convenient. If offered weekly, that’s just $2.96 per week for the remaining weeks (32) in this year. Please clearly designate all contributions, “Classis Assessment.”

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

STEWARDSHIP WEEKLY UPDATE

  1. weekly offering this past Sunday was $3,126 – very close to the $3,200 needed to cover KRC’s daily operating expenses. Shortfalls, such as those we have experienced recently, can lead to eventual deficits that are difficult to overcome without falling back on our limited reserves.

Many thanks to those who have recently made substantial gifts toward bringing our income into line with expenses, and to our regular contributors who “doubled up” on their giving to cover the Sundays they missed.

Income-to-date: $68,728 - Expenses-to-date: $65,858

Inspired by the abundance with which the Lord has blessed us,

let us continue, as his faithful stewards, to be ever mindful of the need

to maintain a weekly offering sufficient to cover our commitments.

MANY THANKS TO THE KRC FAMILY FOR SUPPORTING THE VALATIE FOOD PANTRY

Non-perishable foods always popular at the Pantry are evaporated milk; coffee; sugar; boxed cereals; pancake mix; syrup; jelly; canned meats, fruits, and vegetables; spaghetti/spaghetti sauce; mac & cheese; dinner helpers; apple sauce; juice; cake and brownie mixes. Donations may be placed in the collection containers available in the entryways of the church. Although we have collected empty egg cartons in the past, the Pantry is no longer in need of these items.

ANNUAL PANCAKE BREAKFAST

All are welcome to come and to invite family and friends to an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast of amazing food and fellowship with great people in the KRC Fellowship Hall. Sausage, coffee, and juice will be served along with the pancakes. No reservations needed, free-will donations accepted, and 100% of the proceeds will go to benefit the REACH Mission Trip. Volunteers are needed to assist with this ministry, and a sign-up sheet is available on the back table of the sanctuary.

ANNUAL PLANT SWAP/SALE

RAIN OR SHINE! KRC Outreach Ministry will hold its Annual Plant Swap/Sale. Please invite your friends and neighbors to participate in this popular event.

**Due to threat of the Asian Jumping Worm, an invasive species which can have a devastating effect on our landscapes and natural areas, we are only accepting HOUSEPLANTS this year. Please do NOT donate outdoor garden flowers or cuttings** 100% of the proceeds will go to benefit the REACH Mission Trip.

 

 

 

 

THIRD ANNUAL “WEE CARE” BABY SHOWER AT KRC

SUNDAY, JUNE 3rd, 11:30 A.M. FOLLOWING WORSHIP

 

We will have a lovely brunch, along with a fast-paced, fun game where you can win really terrific prizes. Just bring yourself and a wrapped donation for Wee Care. Everyone is welcome. It is an all ages event! We are currently in need of new or gently-used onesies or sleepers, size 0-3 months, or JoAnn's gift cards.

Wee Care is a ministry of the Kinderhook Reformed Church providing local mothers in need with lovingly-made layettes. We are a dedicated group of volunteers who sew, knit, crochet, and collect new and gently-used baby clothing. Over 80% of the mothers who give birth at Columbia Memorial Hospital have limited resources. We strive to ease the financial burden of “bringing home baby” with the gift of our layette. Each layette contains a handmade blanket, a handmade newborn hat, 2 onesies, and 2 sleepers.

  • families and friends grieving the loss of loved ones, especially family and friends grieving the death of Dennis, who passed away Sunday night from serious burns suffered in the recent fire at Chatham Manor.
  • those who, even after many years, still hurt from the void left by loved ones who have passed on from this world.
  • reassurance, peace, and dignity for those nearing the close of this life.
  • the two residents recovering from injuries received in the Chatham Manor fire, and the 7 displaced residents awaiting restoration of their apartments.
  • God's rich blessing on Lisa, daughter of Sara Schubert, and her new husband, Bobby, as they begin their married life together.
  • the foster daughter of Kim Panting. Kim, long-time friend of the Clause family, is caring for a teenage girl who has begun to show self-destructive and other undesirable behaviors which Kim fears may be having negative influences on her own teenage daughter. Pray for God's spiritual and emotional healing for the foster child, the power needed for Kim's own child to resist giving in to similar destructive actions, and God's strength and reassurance for Kim as she strives to mother these young lives toward healthy, productive futures.
  • Charles, member of Thursday Morning Bible Study, dealing with a serious unspoken issue which may have life-changing outcomes. Please pray that he will experience God's presence, reassurance, and peace at this very difficult time.
  • Bruce Decker, recovering from surgery this past Monday to remove a tumor on his pancreas. Please pray for a speedy and complete recovery for Bruce.

Regular updates are needed on the progress or condition of all individuals on our prayer and praise lists. Please forward this information, as well as new praise/prayer requests, to krc@fairpoint.net or call 859-4158.

 

Outreach Ministry is asking that those who submit a prayer request to KRC’s family and friends also inform us if they know of any additional material or physical needs, beyond the initial prayer request, that we might be able to meet. We would love the opportunity to engage with those in need of prayer in tangible ways as well, such as with meals, emergency monies, a ride, a listening ear, a visit, childcare - to name a few.
