   Communion

The Meaning of the Sacrament

Brothers and Sisters in Christ, we come to the table of our Lord

in remembrance, communion and hope.

We come to Remember -

that our Lord Jesus Christ was sent into the world

so we might be saved through him.

We come to be in Communion -

with this same Christ who has promised to be

with us always, even to the end of the world.

We come in Hope -

believing that this bread and cup are a pledge and foretaste

of the feast of love in the kingdom to come.

Since by his death, resurrection, and ascension, Christ has obtained for us

the life-giving Spirit who unites us all in one body,

so we are to receive this Supper in true love,

mindful of the communion of saints.

The Invitation

This is the Lord’s Table.  All who profess the Lordship of Christ in their lives are invited to share in the feast of the Lord’s Table.  Come, for all things are now ready.

Hymn #777                                                                                             The Lord Is Here!

The Communion Prayer  (Responsive)

The Lord be with you.

And also with you.

Lift up your hearts!

We lift them up to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

It is right to give God thanks and praise.

It is holy, right, and our joyful duty to give thanks to you at all times and in all places, Almighty and everlasting God.  You have shown us the fullness of your love in sending into the world your Eternal Word, Jesus Christ our Lord, made flesh for us and for our salvation.  For the precious gift of this mighty Savior who has reconciled us to you, we praise, bless, and worship you, O God:

Hymn Of Praise #2  (Verse 4)                           Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty

Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!

All thy works shall praise thy name in earth, and sky, and sea!

Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty!

God in three persons, blessed Trinity!

Most righteous God, we remember in this Supper the perfect sacrifice offered once on the cross by our Lord Jesus Christ for the sin of the whole world.  In the joy of his resurrection and in expectation of his coming again, we offer ourselves to you as holy and living sacrifices, and proclaim this mystery of the faith:

Christ has died! Christ is risen! Christ will come again!

Send your Holy Spirit upon us, we pray, that this grain, gathered from many fields into one loaf, and these grapes, gathered from many hills into one cup, may be to us the communion of the body and blood of Christ.  Grant that, being joined together in him, we may attain to the unity of the faith; and that your whole Church may soon be gathered from the ends of the earth into your kingdom. Even so, come, Lord Jesus! And now as Christ taught us, we are bold to say:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil: for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever, Amen.

The Communion

The Lord Jesus, the same night he was betrayed, took bread; and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “Take, eat; this is my body which is given for you: do this in remembrance of me."

(Distribution of the bread)

The bread which we break is the communion of the body of Christ.

After the same manner also, he took the cup when they had supped, saying, “This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.”

(Distribution of the cup)

The cup of blessing which we bless is the communion of the blood of Christ.

Prayer After Communion  (Responsive)

O Lord, Jesus Christ, Redeemer and Savior, we thank you for forgiving our sins,

just as you forgave Peter's denial and those who crucified you.

We thank you that you count not our transgressions,

but, rather, our tears of repentance;

that you remember not our iniquities,

but, more especially, our sorrow for the offenses we have committed against you.

Make your dwelling place within us,

and we will be true to your Word.

Make our righteousness shine as the sun,

and we will praise and glorify you  in love and in service all the days of our lives.  Amen.

*Doxology, #809, and Offertory Prayer

*Hymn of Response                                   My Friends, May You Grow in Grace

My friends, may you grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior.

My friends, may you grow in grace, and in the knowledge of Jesus Christ.

To God be the glory, now and forever, now and forever, amen. (2x)

Postlude        Postlude quasi fantasia, op. 31, Livre II (1913)      Louis Vierne

Matthew & Tina Zawisza of The Living Gospel Ministry are a husband and wife, full-time, traveling ministry team based in New York State’s Capital Region.  Specializing in Living Sermons, it is the goal of their ministry, now in its 6th year, to present God’s Word in a unique way and with a new perspective absolutely necessary for today’s world. The eyes remember more than the ears. Jesus knew this, and often revealed the truth of his Word through highly-visual and dramatic parables.  In a Living Sermon, the Word is not only heard, but also seen & felt.  What are Living Sermons?  They are personalities from the Bible invited to your church as guests speakers, and today, through the ministry of Matthew and Tina, we will witness The Living Sermon, “Peter”, especially adapted for Mothers Day, as part of our worship.

From the very beginning, Matthew and Tina have been a faith-based ministry, which means they do not charge a fee, but accept only love offerings.  They believe their call is to edify one another and fellow believers through the teaching of the Word of God, which is the number one priority when it comes to the assembling of the Church; and they believe there is no better way to do this than by hearing, seeing, experiencing, and feeling the Word’s power & truth.  Over the 6 years of their full-time ministry, Matthew & Tina have seen God do some amazing things.

PLEASE NOTE:

In addition to our regular Sunday offering today, a separate love offering will be taken in support of The Living Gospel Ministry.

Sunday School students will remain in the sanctuary today for The Living Sermon, “Peter”.

~“THANK YOU,  THANK YOU,  THANK YOU!”~

~IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM KRC SUNDAY SCHOOL COORDINATORS~

Dear Friends in Christ,

As you know, our Children’s Sunday School group is growing.  Due to increased enrollment, we find our rooms in need of a few improvements.   With the flooding of the basement nearly every year, we’ve lost all the rugs in the nursery and Sunday School rooms. The heat on that side of our basement is under-floor heating, and over the years it has stopped working in some areas. Where the heat is working, the rooms heat up only 8 degrees for every 6 hours, which means that some mornings we truly are freezing down there.  We've decided to let everyone know that we are in need of support to defray the cost of expenses accrued during February of this year, and we’ll appreciate any help however small!  For donations toward the expense of any of the following, please specify that they are for “Sunday School”:

Two portable infrared heaters in the Sunday school rooms ($130 each)
Smaller infrared heater for the Nursery ($40)
Bible bags for the senior group who received Bibles recently ($8 each) x10
To sponsor a Bible for ($20 each) x16
Boxes of tissues and rolls of paper towels are needed throughout the year!

MANY THANKS TO ALL THOSE WHO HAVE ALREADY CONTRIBUTED!

"THE OLDE DUTCH AND SUCH" CRAFTS GROUP MEETS ON FRIDAYS AT 9:30 A.M. in the main floor classroom opposite the church office. We are creating new plans and new items for the 2013 KRC Bazaar, and we are very much in need of new members and new ideas.  Last year’s preparation workshops were full of fun, laughter, and good fellowship, and the bazaar was a huge success.  We warmly welcome you to join us in our efforts to make this year’s even better!

Many KRC family and friends have, in the past, provided cut flowers for the pulpit in celebration of an anniversary or birthday, in honor of a special day or event, and in loving memory of family and friends who have passed away.  Crazy Daisy florist shop is again able to both create arrangements with a range of price options, and to deliver them to the church free of charge.  Dawn Van Buren is happy to coordinate this ministry, and if you are interested in providing flowers for a particular Sunday, please contact Dawn, 758-7564, and she will assist you.
