  Announcements and God’s Greeting

Call to Worship  (Responsive)  Based on Matthew 17:1-8

Today, O Christ, we would go with You as Your chosen disciples

to a high mountain.

Today we would see Your face shine like the sun

and Your raiment became as white as light.

Today we would hear the voice of Your Father say, "This is my Son, whom I love; with Him I am well pleased. Listen to Him!"

Today we would feel Your touch of encouragement and be raised up.

Today we would hear Your voice of reassurance and be freed from all fear.

Today, O Christ, we will lift up our eyes and see only You.

Hymn #86                                                                                We Come, O Christ, to You

  We Come with Ready Hearts

Call to Confession  (Unison)   Based on the words of the prophet, Zephaniah

Let us acknowledge our arrogant disobedience to God, and seek righteousness and humility.  Let us seek forgiveness from the Lord our God, for He is mighty to save.

  Prayer of Confession  (Unison)

O God, You have shown us the way of life through Your Son, Jesus Christ.  We confess with shame our slowness to learn of Him, our failure to follow Him, and our reluctance to bear the cross.  Have mercy on us, Lord, and forgive us. We confess the poverty of our worship, our neglect of fellowship and of the means of grace, our hesitating witness for Christ, our evasion of responsibilities in our service, our imperfect stewardship of Your gifts. Have mercy on us, Lord, and forgive us. Amen.

[Moment of Silent Confession]

Assurance of Pardon  (Responsive)   Based on 2 Corinthians 4:6

Almighty God, who caused light to shine out of darkness, shines in our hearts, cleansing us from all our sins, and restoring us to the light of the knowledge of God’s glory, in the face of Jesus Christ, our Savior.

     Amen and amen!

  Children’s Message  and Blessing  (Unison)

Draw our children face-to-face with You, O Christ.  May they know You as God’s beloved Son; may they feel Your presence, taste Your goodness, and sense the value You place upon them; may they experience Your majesty and know Your power to renew and strengthen them in times of need; and may they long for more of You each day of their lives.  Amen.

We Listen with Expectant Hearts

Solo Deborah Spaulding, soprano,  “Jesu joy of man’s desiring” from Cantata No. 147,  J.S. Bach

Message                                                      “The Voice, the Lamp, and the Prophecy”

  Prayer of Blessing

  Communion  (Insert)

  We Give with Liberal Hearts

  Invitation to Offering  (Unison)

In acknowledgement that all that we have belongs in the first instance to God, let us offer our material gifts cheerfully, our time generously, and our talents humbly to Him.

Offertory                Invention V from 24 Inventions, Op. 50                  Marcel Dupré

*Doxology (p. 809)

  Offertory Prayer   (Responsive)

God of glory, receive these gifts and the offering of our lives.  As Your beloved Son, Jesus, was lifted up from earth, draw us to Your heart in the midst of this world, that all creation may be brought from bondage to freedom, from darkness to light, and from death to life, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

  Pastoral Prayer

*Hymn #98                                                                                                                 Majesty

*Benediction, Blessing, and Response Hymn    My Friends May You Grow in Grace

My friends, may you grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior.

My friends, may you grow in grace, and in the knowledge of Jesus Christ.

To God be the glory, now and forever, now and forever, amen. (2x)

Postlude                 Prelude and Fugue in g minor, BWV 558                   J. S. Bach (?)

The Outreach Ministry wishes to thank to all of the chefs, servers, and cleanup volunteers who participated at the outreach dinner at St. Luke's Tuesday evening. It was a great success as we served 139 people from the community.  We were truly blessed to experience the warmth of ecumenical fellowship while serving the Lord.

Greetings Brothers & Sisters in Christ,

In March the Visser family will be heading to the warm and sunny southern states for vacation.  The consistory would like the Vissers’ vacation to be a stress-free family trip full of memories to last a lifetime.  We feel the Lord is leading us to bless our Pastor and his family and to truly say thank you for all they do each and every day.  We realize many of you already bless the family regularly and have helped out in the past as needs have arisen.  We simply ask that you prayerfully consider this opportunity to bless our Pastor and his family.

First we seek your prayers for the family while they are away, March 12-26. If you feel led to bless the family with a financial gift towards their trip, please make checks payable to Kinderhook Reformed Church and note ‘Visser Vacation’ on the memo line and place in the offering plate.  You may also use cash and mark ‘Visser Vacation’ on your offering envelope, or you can use the special ‘Visser Vacation’ envelopes on the back table.

In His name,

The Consistory of the Kinderhook Reformed Church

Matthew and Tina Zawisza of The Living Gospel Ministry have blessed KRC several times with Matthew’s moving portrayals of the Biblical characters Barabbas, Peter, and Joseph.  Recent major repairs on the vehicles they travel in, together with a decrease in the number of engagements they have been able to book, have taken a serious financial toll on Matthew and Tina and their work.  KRC has been asked to prayerfully consider offering some financial support at this difficult time to this talented and dedicated couple and The Living Gospel Ministry. Donations may be sent to Matthew and Tina at 939 Norwood Avenue, Schenectady, NY 12303.

Two of the three pianos in the Sunday School classrooms, plus the electronic organ in the handicap ramp entranceway, are free-for-the- taking to anyone who would like to make use of them or who knows of someone who would.  Although it has some issues, the organ is playable, and the pianos, which mainly need to be tuned, would make good practice instruments for beginning piano students. If interested, please contact Patti Varga.

KRC’s share of support this year is $5,728.14 for services and resources to be provided for us by the Reformed Church in America at the local, regional, and national levels. EACH MEMBER’S SHARE OF THIS YEAR’S CLASSIS ASSESSMENT HAS BEEN SET AT $86.79.  All who are able to do so are encouraged to offer, over and above regular giving, their share of this support.  The full share does not have to be given at one time, but may be given in as many increments as are convenient. If offered weekly, that’s just over $2 per week. All contributions made for this purpose should be designated, “Classis Assessment.”

~A FRIENDLY REMINDER ABOUT PEW CARDS~

Just a note to remind parents to keep their children from writing on or tearing the visitors’ cards and the prayer and announcement cards found in the slots on the back of each pew.  The visitors’ cards are purchased from a professional printer, and are expensive to replace.   Please have your children make use of the writing and coloring materials available especially for them in the back of the sanctuary.  Your attention to this request will be greatly appreciated.
