  Welcome and God’s Greeting

Call to Worship  (Responsive)  Based on Ps. 108:1-4, 2 Thess. 2:16

Our hearts are ready, O Lord,

       our hearts are ready!

We will sing and make melody!

       We will awaken the dawn!

We will give thanks to You, O Lord, among the peoples.

We will sing praises to You among the nations.

For Your steadfast love is great above the heavens.

Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds,

and Your redeeming grace gives us eternal encouragement and good hope!

*Hymn of Praise (Insert – All verses)         I Greet Thee, Who My Sure Redeemer Art

Call to Confession  Based on Romans 5:8; Hebrews 4:16

The proof of God’s amazing love is this:  While we were sinners, Christ died for us.  Let us therefore approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive God’s mercy and grace in time of need. Trusting in His faithfulness and compassion, let us confess our sin before God and one another.

Prayer of Confession  (Unison)  Based on Psalm 25:6-8, 11, 16-18

Holy God, we confess that we have ignored the guidance of Your Spirit and have elevated the things of this world above You.  We have made idols of possessions and people and used Your name for causes that are not consistent with Your purposes. We have made our own schedules a priority and have not made time for You. We have participated in practices that threaten life rather than protect it. We have coveted, and sometimes taken, what is not ours, and we have misrepresented others’ words and intentions.

[Moment of Meditation and Silent Prayer]

Hear our prayers of confession, O merciful God.

Forgive us for the many ways we fall short of Your glory. Help us to live faithfully according to Your ways, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon  Based on Romans 8:1

Hear the Gospel of Grace! There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.  For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death. Anyone who is in Christ is a new creation. The old life has gone; a new life has begun.

  Children’s Message and Blessing

Lord, lead our children to trust not in their own good works, but only in the grace of Jesus’ sacrifice for their salvation; assure them that, through faith in Jesus, their souls are secure in Your hands for all eternity.  Amen.

  Prayer for Illumination

  Scripture Lesson                                                                        2 Samuel 9:1-13 (p. 220)

  Prayer of Blessing

Presentation of our Tithes and Offerings / Offertory

“How fair and pleasant art Thou,” Op. 18/5             M. Dupre

*Doxology (#809) and Offertory Prayer  (Unison)

Almighty God, You have done great things for us, and holy is Your name. Bless all we offer You — ourselves, our time, and our possessions — that through us Your grace and favor may be made known to all the world, for the sake of Jesus Christ, our Redeemer.  Amen.

Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s Prayer

For those who are using the envelope system to present tithes and offerings to the church, there are still some new envelopes for 2014 waiting for pick-up in the back of the sanctuary.  Boxes are labeled in alphabetical order by last name.

If you are not using offering envelopes, but would like to begin, please fill out one of the small request slips (standing up in back of one of the boxes) and drop it in the offering plate.  You may do this now or at any time within the next few weeks.

KRC’s share of support this year is $5,728.14 for services and resources to be provided for us by the Reformed Church in America at the local, regional, and national levels. EACH MEMBER’S SHARE OF THIS YEAR’S CLASSIS ASSESSMENT HAS BEEN SET AT $86.79.  All who are able to do so are encouraged to offer, over and above regular giving, their share of this support.  The full share does not have to be given at one time, but may be given in as many increments as are convenient. If offered weekly, that’s less than $2 per week. All contributions made for this purpose should be designated, “Classis Assessment.”

~NOTE OF THANKS FROM THE VALATIE FOOD PANTRY~

Dear Reformed Protestant Dutch Church,

Please accept this letter as a thank you for your very generous donation of $435 to the Valatie Ecumenical Food Pantry.  Your support is appreciated very much.  Our pantry serves all of the households in the Ichabod Crane School District who request help; the only stipulation is proof of residency in our district.  We are fortunate to live in communities that are very giving.  We find that more people are using the pantry in today’s economy.  On their behalf, and for all of our volunteers, a sincere thank-you for your assistance.  Many people will eat a good meal thanks to your help.

                           Sincerely yours,

Jean S. Norton for the Valatie Ecumenical Food Pantry

~CONCERTS IN THE VILLAGE PLANNED FOR 2014~

Kinderhook Reformed Church is pleased to present the 2014 portion of Concerts in the Village (CITV), a concert series begun 4 years ago under the sponsorship of KRC’s Stewardship Ministry as a music outreach to the church’s surrounding communities featuring our refurbished pipe organ.  Continuing under the dedicated administration of KRC’s CITV committee and the capable and talented leadership of music director and organist, David Smith, the series has evolved to include a variety of orchestral instrumentalists, vocal soloists, a chorus of over 70 voices (now known as the Broad Street Chorale), and a wide selection of sacred and secular pieces from diverse musical periods and cultures.

All concerts will be performed in KRC’s sanctuary, and a suggested donation of $15 will be gratefully accepted to assist in the ongoing funding of this exceptional series:

SUNDAY, MARCH 30, 3:00 P.M.  The third offering in the 2013-2014 Concerts in the Village series will be "Henry Purcell Sacred and Secular: Home, Church and Dramatic Music of the Early Baroque in England.” Featured will be the Broad Street Chorale, soloists Amanda Boyd, Jon Morrell and others, and orchestra.  This program will include a concert performance of Dido and Aeneas, the first important opera in the English language, as well as instrumental and solo vocal music.
