  Prelude

  Announcements and God’s Greeting

Call to Worship     From Psalm 15 and Micah 6:8.

Lord, who may dwell in Your sacred tent?

Who may live on Your holy mountain?
The one whose walk is blameless, who does what is righteous,

who speaks the truth from their heart.

What does the Lord require of us?

To act justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
Let us humble ourselves before the Lord!

Lord, purify our hearts that we may be blameless and humble before You.

We want to walk with You.

*Hymn of Praise  #29                                                                           O Worship the King

  Call to Confession

Beloved, we are God’s children because of the love God has for us, yet we do find ourselves failing to respond to His outpouring of love. Let us confess our sins together.

  Prayer of Confession (Unison)

Forgive us, O God, as we eagerly prefer the old to the new, half life to full life, and our own achievements to Your gift of life. Forgive our reluctance to move from milk to solid food, O Lord.  We cling to the flesh and all it represents instead of adhering to Your message of salvation and grace. Forgive us as we so often fail to see the signs of Your presence in our life.

[Moment of silence]

Have mercy on us, O God.

Help us to lay hold of the life that is life indeed. Restore to us the joy of our salvation and uphold us as a church family with Your gracious Spirit. Deliver us from all our sin, through Jesus, our Christ. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon  Hymn #60   (Verse 3)                         Great Is Thy Faithfulness

Children’s Message and Prayer of Blessing  (Unison)

All-powerful God, preserve these children from the sins of arrogance and greed, and from the offenses of injustice, violence, and inhumanity that attend these evils.  Lead them into holy and virtuous lives of faithfulness to you, and of love and humble service to others. Amen.

  Prayer for Illumination

  Scripture Lesson                                                                                Micah 6:1-8 (p. 659)

Message                                                                      “Living Humbly before the Lord”

  Prayer of Blessing

Invitation to Offering    Based on Psalm 50:14

Let us offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving,

and pay our vows to the Most High.

  Offering/Offertory

*Doxology (p. 809) and Offertory Prayer  (Unison)

Father God, we bring You these gifts that represent the partnership we share with You in proclaiming Your gospel. Grant us a sense of our unrecognized abilities and our many opportunities – and the heart to be good stewards of Your grace.  Amen.

Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s Prayer

*Song of Commitment  (Insert)                     Humble Yourself In the Sight of the Lord *Benediction, Blessing, and Response Hymn    My Friends May You Grow in Grace

My friends, may you grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior.

My friends, may you grow in grace, and in the knowledge of Jesus Christ.

To God be the glory, now and forever, now and forever, amen. (2x)

  Postlude

St. Luke’s Lutheran Church family, Valatie, together with other area churches, continue the tradition of free dinners once a month in the St. Luke’s Fellowship Hall. KRC will be providing and serving the free dinner offered Tuesday, February 25, and it is anticipated that up to 150 people will be attending.  A sign-up sheet is now on the back table for volunteers who are willing to participate in this ministry.

PRAISE GOD, THE LARAWAY/LAMONT FAMILY HAS GOOD NEWS!

The family now has an apartment in Stuyvesant on Church Street and hope to move in within a week. Cliff has a farm job on the Allen farm on Route 26A in Stuyvesant and started on Monday. A mailing address for the family is not yet available, but Susan is working on setting up their email address.  They will be needing beds (twin or double or bunk), washer, dryer, sofa, dressers, (preferably one for each member of the family), and other household furniture if anyone has anything extra.

A THANK-YOU FROM CLIFF AND SUSAN

“God shows His love through the warmth and kindness

of special people like you.  Thank you, and God Bless.”

Dear Pastor Rudy and Congregation of Kinderhook Reformed Church,

Words could never express the thanks we have for all the love and kindness you showed us through the toughest times.  May God always bless you all.  We love you all like our own family.  GOD BLESS.

                                                                                          Cliff, Susan, and Kids

Libby Little and her guests, Nel and Dirk Frans of Holland, worshiped with the KRC family last Sunday.  Dirk, who spoke briefly to the congregation, is the Executive Director of the NOOR Eyecare Project which Tom and Libby Little served with in Afghanistan; and he and Nel are also part of Interserve, as Tom and Libby were and as Libby continues to be.  Some members of the KRC family expressed their wish to donate to the work of Dirk and Nel, and in response, Dirk forwarded the following memo detailing current NOOR needs:

Dear KRC Congregation,

It was a simple delight, a home-coming, to attend the service at the Dutch Reformed Church in Kinderhook. Nel and I were also happy to see where Tom and Libby had spent their youth and hear more about their life before Afghanistan. All in all it was a really blessed day for us.

How encouraging also that some in the congregation want to contribute to the work of IAM in general and the NOOR eye care work in particular. As it is we are looking for funding to design and then build a dormitory for students from rural areas to attend the Ophthalmic Technicians course that NOOR runs in Kabul. The dormitory will house 40 students and will be built on the government-owned compound of the NOOR Eyecare Training Centre (NETC).

Kabul is in an earthquake zone, so we want the building to be properly designed and the construction supervised by a trustworthy company. We have earlier worked with a German/Afghan company and were very please with their work. As you will understand, they are not as cheap as some of the completely local companies, but when they designed our Mental Health Clinic in Herat and supervised the building work, we ended up with a top-notch building and saved some money on the actual building contract.

Before we can start fund-raising for the building of the dormitory we need an architectural and structural design, as well as the bill of quantities and the tender documents. The cost of that design work is US $ 7,500. Any and all contributions to that would be great. This would be like an investment, giving us a trustworthy design and documents that would help us raise the money for the actual building.

                                                                                       United in Him,  Dirk

~NOTE OF THANKS FROM CAPITAL CITY RESCUE MISSION~

Dear Reformed Protestant Dutch Church,

Your gift of $190 for our Christmas Campaign just arrived. Your generous support brings joy to my heart.  I can’t thank you enough.  Your gift has made a difference for many homeless people in our community – some of whom have spent decades suffering on the streets.  You have given these struggling souls a reason to be grateful this past Christmas season.  And that may change everything.  A decent meal, out of the elements, can inspire people who need help to pursue a better life. They may be moved to enter our long-term care, where they receive counseling, spiritual nourishment, accountability, and job retraining that helps them regain their independence and God-given purpose.  That’s why providing meals during the Christmas season is such a wonderful way to help your homeless neighbors.  It is a “spark” than can lead to transformed lives by the power of Christ.  Thank you and God bless you.

                                                   Gratefully,    Perry Jones, Executive Director

KRC’s share of support this year is $5,728.14 for services and resources to be provided for us by the Reformed Church in America at the local, regional, and national levels. EACH MEMBER’S SHARE OF THIS YEAR’S CLASSIS ASSESSMENT HAS BEEN SET AT $86.79.  All who are able to do so are encouraged to offer, over and above regular giving, their share of this support.  The full share does not have to be given at one time, but may be given in as many increments as are convenient. If offered weekly, that’s less than $2 per week. All contributions made for this purpose should be designated, “Classis Assessment.”

~CONCERTS IN THE VILLAGE PLANNED FOR 2014~

Kinderhook Reformed Church is pleased to present the 2014 portion of Concerts in the Village (CITV), a concert series begun 4 years ago under the sponsorship of KRC’s Stewardship Ministry as a music outreach to the church’s surrounding communities featuring our refurbished pipe organ.  Continuing under the dedicated administration of KRC’s CITV committee and the capable and talented leadership of music director and organist, David Smith, the series has evolved to include a variety of orchestral instrumentalists, vocal soloists, a chorus of over 70 voices (now known as the Broad Street Chorale), and a wide selection of sacred and secular pieces from diverse musical periods and cultures.

All concerts will be performed in KRC’s sanctuary, and a suggested donation of $15 will be gratefully accepted to assist in the ongoing funding of this exceptional series:

SUNDAY, MARCH 30, 3:00 P.M.  The third offering in the 2013-2014 Concerts in the Village series will be "Henry Purcell Sacred and Secular: Home, Church and Dramatic Music of the Early Baroque in England.” Featured will be the Broad Street Chorale, soloists Amanda Boyd, Jon Morrell and others, and orchestra.  This program will include a concert performance of Dido and Aeneas, the first important opera in the English language, as well as instrumental and solo vocal music.
